Henk Stabilo uses children's pencils in 12 colors for this work. Horizontal lines are placed on a sheet every 5 mm. Then, with a die of 1-12, the die is cast first for the color and then for the length of the line fill that will be set with that color – 1, 2, 3 cm…etc. He works from left to right, line by line down. If a larger segment must be placed at the end of the line than is still available, it continues with the same color on the next line.
