1994

The reason for this work was the published document, Prisoner of War Prelimenary Record by Günter Grass, the German writer and Nobel Prize winner. It was evidence of his capture as a Waffen-SS soldier at the end of World War II. Henk makes impressions of his fingers where the order is determined by a die 1:10. 1 = his thumb on the right, 6 = his thumb on the left, according to the numbering of the war document. He works from left to right again. Later Henk made a second version of this work in which he provided the prints with a more extensive code: thumb right = 1 RD etc.
